The Quiet Secret to Happiness | Wintering in Finland – VIDEO
Finland has once again been ranked the happiest country in the world, for the ninth year in a row. I heard the news on the radio, which we often have playing in the kitchen. Right after the announcement, an expert felt the need to clarify that it might not be so much about Finns being “happy” as it is about a deep sense of contentment. It made me smile.
Somehow, we don’t quite know how to take news like this, that our country is, by at least some measure, the happiest in the world. Or the most content. Or the least unhappy. I suppose it doesn’t really matter which adjective you choose.
Personally, I think it’s wonderful. I do believe we are happy, in a big, broad sense, each in our own way. That doesn’t mean we don’t have problems or room to improve, but at least for now, on a global scale, those challenges seem relatively small. And that really is something special.
Inspired by this, I found myself reflecting on happiness and contentment in this video. I’m not promising any answers, but it’s always nice to do a bit of kitchen table philosophizing now and then, and at the same time share what late winter in the north looks like and what’s been going on in our lives.
Hope you enjoy spending a few moments with my video :)
